The average particle size of the kdf treatment medium is about 60 mesh, and the smallest particle is about 110 mesh. It can also play the role of physical filtration to remove suspended matter. Usually, the KDF filter medium can effectively remove particles with a diameter as small as 50 μm.

When the water pipes made of iron and steel are corroded, iron is oxidized to form FeO colloid, and FeO can also undergo oxidation-reduction reaction when in contact with KDF. FeO finally forms Fe2O3 solids and precipitates on the surface of KDF, which can be removed by backwashing.
