Calcium sulfite is reducing and can react with residual chlorine in water to achieve the purpose of dechlorination. Free chlorine is the residual available chlorine in water, usually due to compounds such as chlorine or hypochlorite added during disinfection. Residual chlorine will affect the taste and color of water, and may also cause harm to human health.
Composite carbon rod is a solid adsorption material made of activated carbon and binder, with high specific surface area and porosity, which can effectively remove organic matter, heavy metal ions, odor and other pollutants in water. The advantage of the composite carbon rod is that it has a stable structure, is not easy to break, and is easy to replace and recycle. The disadvantage of composite carbon rods is that the chlorine removal effect is not good, because activated carbon has limited adsorption capacity for residual chlorine and is easily oxidized and deactivated.
In order to improve the chlorine removal effect of the composite carbon rod, we sintered 5%-10% calcium sulfite particles inside it to make it have dual functions: adsorption and reduction. Calcium sulfite powder can quickly react with residual chlorine in water to generate harmless chloride ions and sulfate ions, and at the same time release calcium ions to increase the mineral content of water.
We conducted systematic experiments and analyzes on the development of calcium sulfite for composite carbon rods to improve the chlorine removal effect. The results show that calcium sulfite for composite carbon rods can effectively reduce the concentration of residual chlorine in water and improve the transparency and sensory quality of water. . Compared with ordinary composite carbon rods, calcium sulfite used in composite carbon rods can improve the chlorine removal effect by 15%-20%. The ability of calcium sulfite for composite carbon rods to remove other pollutants in water does not decrease significantly, and it has good durability and stability.
We will showcase our research and development results at the 2023 Shanghai AQUATECH exhibition, and look forward to communicating and cooperating with our customers and peers.
